The Pipeline
Every compound in the corpus against the public clinical trials registry: total registered records, current recruitment, and the exact query that produced each row. 10,992 records across 77 names, retrieved 2026-10-13.
Remit
The Pipeline runs in every issue. It exists so that the counts a feature argues from are published in full, row by row, with the request that produced each one, rather than summarised and left to be taken on trust.
The method does not change between issues. One query per compound name against the registry’s public interface, asking how many registered studies name that compound as an intervention, plus a second query restricted to records currently recruiting. The figures are counts of registry records. They are not trials conducted, participants enrolled, money spent, or any judgement about any compound.
The caveats that belong with this table are set out at length in the issue’s first feature: a record is a registration rather than a completed trial, an endogenous substance name matches studies in which it is measured rather than developed, and a name query misses variant spellings and sponsor code names.
Registered studies by compound
Ordered by record count. 59 of 77 names return at least one registered study and 18 return none. The whole corpus accounts for 10,992 records, of which 1,245 are recruiting across 48 names. Each row’s link re-runs that row’s exact query against the live registry.
